An extensive literature review of current web accessibility guidelines concerning design for users with cognitive disabilities. Current web accessibility guidelines were examined in an effort to create a standardized set of recommendations with a high level of agreement according to current literature. The top 22 design recommendations were discussed and cover elements of text size and shape, consistency of navigation and page design, use of icons, pictures, text writing, style, margins, hyperlinks, line spacing, and screen-layout. The authors’ recommendations for changes in public policy and avenues for advocacy were included.
