This document outlined the set of specification and requirements created by the United States Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to be used when testing voting systems for basic functionality, accessibility, and security capabilities. The EAC adopted the Voluntary Voting System Guidelines (VSG) which increased security requirements and access to those people with disabilities. The current version updated the prior documents to be in line with the most recent advancements in election technology and practices. These guidelines are voluntary and States may choose to follow these requirements or not.
