The Human Dimension of Elections: How Poll Workers Shape Public Confidence in Elections

An examination of the voter-poll worker interaction.  The article covers three major topics: characterization of poll workers as “street-level bureaucrats,” voter satisfaction with the election process, and the correlation between voter satisfaction with poll workers and voter confidence.

The author suggest that elections officials should devote significant resources to training poll workers in new technology to improve interaction with voters.
