A report on turnout and difficulties of disabled voters during the 2012 elections. Results stem from two sources: the Census Bureau’s Voting Research Supplement and a survey of 3,022 eligible voters during the November 2012 elections.
Key results include:
- Turnout among disabled voters was 5.7% lower than turnout among non-disabled voters.
- There is no significant difference in turnout between employed voters with disabilities and employed voters without disabilities.
- Voters with disabilities were much more likely to experience difficulties at the polls (30.1% and 8.4%, respectively).
- A significantly larger percentage of voters with disabilities voted by mail compared to voters without disabilities.
