This article assessed web-based voting technology in Norway and found that universal design principles were not fully understood or not prioritized for implementation by solution providers. After the authors designed several e-voting prototypes, they found that one prototype was preferred by the majority of participants, including those with impairments, confirming that it was possible to avoid conflicting designs for users with different disabilities. In general, there is a positive attitude towards web-based elections and seems to be huge potential in improving such systems.
